The theme of this workis centered in the relations of ergonomyto the incidence and prevention of vari-cose diseases, aiming at identifying itsoccurrence among faculty nurses and theactions they take in order to prevent andtreat varicose veins. The study was com-posed of 24 professors who answered aquestionnaire. This questionnaire showedthat 12 (50,0%) presented signs andsymptoms of varicose diseases, espe-cially pain, edema, telangiectasia, tin-
gling and color alteration. However, 14(58.3%) did not use preventive methods.Among those that used preventive meth-ods, the foliowing stood out: use of sup-port hose, and elevation of lower limbs.Considering lhe treatment, 16 (66.7%)did not undergo treatment and those thatdid, underwent scierosis and surgicaltreatment. We believe that knowing howto take care of clients is not enough, theprofessional needs to pay attention to hisown health, using preventive resourcesand adequate treatment.
