Keywords:
Nursing, Central Supply and SterilizationAbstract
With the purpose of doing a survey of the scientific knowledge on Central Supply and Sterilization (CSS) and its social visibility conferred by the p ress, we developed a study to identify scientific production on hospital materiais sterilization (under the form of national publications of the BVS, from 1993 to 2003); toanalyze production about the theme published in the nursing journals and to comment its importance for the society based on the news regi sters . The bibliographic survey resulted in the sample of 23 indexed p ub lic atio ns. The results point that scientific production in Central Supply and Sterilization is mainly restricted to the nurses who act in that place and that the SOBECC Magazine was a landmark in CSS intellectual production in Brazil. We identify the necessity of searching more on CSS and divulging plus such researches, as much in nursing publications as in the healthcare ones in general and in scientific events, guaranteeing more academic spa ce.
