The rig1d co'ltai'ler 1s an 1mported packag ng technology that ct1ffers frorn the trad1t1onal ones because 1t has a system of filters des1gned for a r ex t and stear, inlet and because 1t doesn't have an externai 1nvolucre. Cons1dering that ali new technology should be invest1gated, this study intends to analyze the use of ng1d contêineres and their advantages and disadvantages. The data were collected frorn publ c and pnvate hospitais that use th1s technology and that have agreed to answer a semí-structured telephone interv1ew. lt was affirmed that the rigid contê,neres are cost-efíective When comparing the rig,d contêineres and the perforated boxes handling, 70,8% pointed the rig1d contê•neres to be better than the perforated boxes, 2 7, 8% pointed no differences between them, only 1,4% pointed the rig1d contêineres to be worse than the perforated boxes. 1 00% of the sample bel,eves that the ngid contêineres are safer than the perforated boxes Therefore, it is possible to conclude that the r,g1d contêineres a•e the ideal subst1tutes for the períorated boxes as surgica' instruments package under ster lization by autoclavationReferences
