Dimensionamento de pessoal de enfermagem em centro cirúrgico no período transoperatório: estudo das horas de assistência, segundo o porte cirúrgico

The aim of th1s study was to present a model of calculating and dts tributing the nursing personne/ during the transoperatory period, thereby enabh'ng the nurses to determine with more accu racy the number of personnel necessary for assuring a good quahty of nursing as s1stance in the Surgical Center. The app/;· cation of the proposed model in a Surgi cal Center of a teaching hospital enabled the analys1s of the following results: re gardtng the surgical turnove'1 the higher number oi planned surgeries as well as of urgency / emergency was of extent li ( 42.5 %/ followed by extent I (31 %/ extent Ili (15.5%) and extent IV ( 1O.8 %). The 1ntraoperatory mean time of the planned surgeries was 196. 8 minu tes (3.28 hours) and of the urgency emergency oi 212.5 minutes (3. 5 4 hours). The average cleaning time of the OR 1n planned surgeries was 3 1. 8 minu tes and 40. 8 minutes 1n urgency/emer gency surgeries. The mean time oi nurstng assistance during the intraoperatory pe riod of planned surgeries according to the surgical extent was 6.5 4 hours, dtstributed among the various surgical extents as fol lows: 2. 8 8 hours for extent /; 5.16 hours for extent li; 9.80 hours for extent /// and 16. 12 hours for extent IV ln the urgency/emergency surgeries, the average time of nurstng ass1stance accordtng to the surgical extent was 7. 1O hours, dtstributed as follows: 2. 5 6 hours for extent /; 5 .86 hours for extent li, 9.82 hours for extent Ili and 17.26 hours for extent IV Accordtng to the calculations made, the nurstng staff compnsed 102 professionals covenng 15 nurses and 8 7 nurse auxi liaries. The result demonstrated the neces sity of a m1nor staff of nursing personne/, when compared with the staff of the Surgical Center.
