Patient satisfaction and guidance manual pre and post cardiac surgery

The surgery experience is the cause of stress and anxiety in patients and their families, by fear of the unknownand the doubts and uncertainties about the recovery process. The aim of this studyis to assess patients satisfaction as to Guidance Manual for Pre and Post Cardiac Surgery in order to propose improvements and modification of the manualfor future editions. This is a field study, quantitative and descriptive-exploratory, carried out in a public hospital in São Paulo, which is specialized in caring for patients with cardiovascular diseases. The sample were comprised of 131 patientsand data was collected through a questionnaire, considering the ethical-legalaspects of research involving humans. It was found that 98% of patients felt that the manual has contributed to the preparation of their surgery and 991/0 rated the manual as being great and proper. Therewas signiflcant acceptance ofpatients inreceiving the guidance manual ofpre andpost cardiac surgery in the day beforeyour surgery, what motivate us to develop this practice in other specialties.References
